Consultation
What is a consultation?
A doctor or hospital may refer you to Northwest Gastroenterology for a consultation. You may also contact us directly for an opinion on your gastrointestinal symptoms. During your consultation, you will meet with a physician, physician assistant, or advanced nurse practitioner to discuss your symptoms. After this, our provider will perform a physical exam and provide you with an opinion about whether additional testing is needed. Please feel free to ask any questions during this time to make sure you fully understand any evaluation that we recommend, such as endoscopy, imaging, or laboratory testing.
Who needs a consultation?
You need a consultation if another medical provider has referred you to us or if you have gastrointestinal symptoms and want a specialist’s opinion. If you are new to the area with a chronic gastrointestinal disease, such as Crohn’s disease, you can establish local care via a consultation. If you are healthy and want to pursue colon cancer screening via colonoscopy, you can see our Express Colonoscopy Registration to see if you can bypass a consultation.
How do I set up a consultation?
If your primary care provide refers you to Northwest Gastro, we will contact you to set up your consultation. If you are self-referring yourself, Contact Us to schedule an appointment.
