What is Northwest Gastroenterology?

Northwest Gastroenterology provides consultations and ongoing office care in a clinic setting. Our team is committed to providing the best possible digestive care to the people of Whatcom County and adjoining areas. We use the most up-to-date information and latest technologies to diagnose and treat digestive diseases, including diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon/rectum, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas.

Our gastroenterologists are digestive disease specialists. After medical school, we completed residencies in general internal medicine before pursuing specialized fellowship training in digestive diseases. All our partnered physicians are Board-certified in gastroenterology.

We evaluate and treat many symptoms, including swallowing disorders, heartburn, abdominal pain and gas, gastrointestinal bleeding, nausea and vomiting, anemia, constipation, diarrhea, and unexplained weight loss. Some of the many diseases we specialize in are gastro-esophageal reflux (GERD), Barrett’s esophagus, H. pylori infection, celiac disease, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, hepatitis, cirrhosis, gallbladder problems, bile duct cancers, pancreatitis, carcinoid, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, microscopic colitis, colon polyps, and colon cancer.

As the only single-specialty gastroenterology clinic in Bellingham, we have an experienced team of physicians, physician assistants, advanced nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff to provide you with exemplary care through every step of your evaluation. Our integrated electronic health record system will allow us to offer quick turnaround for labs, prescription requests, and endoscopy and consultation reports.

Based on your gastrointestinal issues, your Northwest Gastroenterology clinic provider may recommend labs, imaging, procedures, or a referral to another specialist such as a physical therapist or surgeon.

The partner-physicians of Northwest Gastroenterology also own and operate Northwest Endoscopy in conjunction with a nationwide management company. This new ambulatory surgical facility is for procedures such as upper endoscopy and colonoscopy.

Northwest Gastroenterology physicians can perform outpatient surgical procedures either at Northwest Endoscopy, or at PeaceHealth Medical Center in Bellingham where all our physicians have hospital privileges.

As the largest gastroenterology clinic in Bellingham, we provide state-of-the-art care in a friendly and compassionate environment.
